Ros Jones

Ros has been playing around the Melbourne music scene for ten years.  Starting in a rock band doing pub gigs
and moving auspiciously into a nefarious street band called Croque Monsieur. From playing on the street
she was offered a part in the streettheatre company ‘5 Angry Men’. This group toured to Europe in 2004
and also raised chaos in Melbourne festivals. With the darkeastern European flavour of the 5 angry men
it was a natural progression into the Russian criminal stylings of Vulgargrad. Vulgargrad has been touring
across Australia for the last three years and is looking to head overseas next year.  Her own creation, thes
‘Hoodoo Mayhem Brass Band’ is a roving band and has performed all through Melbourne and country
Victoria. Some interesting shows include: leading a fiesta through the masses at the Falls Festival in 2009,
appearing on Spicks’n’Specks in 2008, and acting as a link for all the stages at the Melbourne International
Jazz festival in 2007.  Hoodoo Mayhem is currently recording an album to be released later this year.
Another new project put together by Ros is THE KURTS, a Kurt Weill tribute band. Other musical involvements
currently include leading a big band and teaching brass at Alexandra and Euroa Secondary Colleges.
